Mary, the beloved wife of Harrie Pontious, died this morning at 6 o’clock at their home on East Main Street, after a long and painful siege of typhoid fever which she contacted while attending the funeral of her sister, Mrs. W. S. Silver, at Kingfisher, Oklahoma. The funeral of Mrs. Pontious will occur Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock, Rev. G. W. Switzer officiating. The interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Pontious was born in Randolph County October 16, 1852. She was the daughter of Rev. H. J. Lacey and was married to Harrie Pontious in 1875. they came to this city in 1882 and during their residence here made hundreds of friends who are pained and shocked to hear of Mrs. Pontious’ death. She was a Christian lady of many virtues and a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The bereaved family has the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement

The funeral of Mrs. Harrie Pontious occurred this afternoon at 2 o’clock and was largely attended. The floral offerings were unusually numerous and beautiful and four young ladies acted as flower bearers.
